from ロセンド 2010
"Hi, my name
is ロセンド, and I've studied Japanese at Palomar College with Tachibana-sensei.
I also had the pleasure of going with her and a couple of other students
to Japan two years ago, where we visited many cities, such as Osaka,
Nara, Kyoto, Akita and Tokyo within the span of only two weeks. Learning
any foreign language can be difficult, and many students tend to forget
what they learn in their classes as soon as the semester is over, but
Tachibana sensei goes beyond what her jobs call for to motivate and
inspire students who really want to learn. Tachibana-sensei encouraged
me to participate in a speech contest when I was a student in her class
(2005), even though I didn't feel so confident in my ability at that
time. Thanks to her, I earned an award for best effort! The Tachibana
Learning Center is an example of her devotion to students. At the meetings,
I have a chance to get together with other students who want to learn
Japanese as much as I do, and we eat some really good food that has
been prepared by Tachibana sensei herself, and occasionally have desserts
that have been prepared by the students. When we are done eating, the
American and Japanese students each take turns giving presentations
for the group, while Tachibana sensei moves the discussion. By the end
of the meetings, I always feel that I've made new friends, am happy
that I had a chance to practice talking in Japanese, and usually stuffed
with her delicious Japanese food!" |
